MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Salem University women's soccer team blanked Roberts Wesleyan 3-0, on a hot Tuesday afternoon at Mylan Park.
This marks Salem's second-straight win, improving its record to 6-3-1.
The Tigers controlled the match from start to finish. Salem generated 21 shots in the contest with 13 on goal, while Roberts Wesleyan recorded only three shots with two on goal.
The contest was clean, as there were only 11 total fouls in the whole match.
Freshman
Aliyah Armijo started things off, she netted a goal at 36:04 as freshman
Jocelyn Orellana found her in the 18-yard box to take a 1-0 lead.
Sophomore
Thuto Ramafifi notched the second tally on the scoreboard at 65:18 as freshman Sophia Wortman hit Ramafifi with a through ball as Ramafifi maneuvered her way around the keeper for a 2-0 lead.
The Tigers sealed the deal at 87:18, as Ramafifi netted her second goal of the match and sixth in two games off an assist by Armijo. Armijo placed the ball right in front of the net as Ramafifi was there to tap it in an open goal for a dominant 3-0 lead.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Valentina Bonaiuto notched her first shutout of the season, while she recorded two saves.
On the season, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 31-16, averaging 3.1 goals per match.
Salem is back in action Sunday as it travels to Trinity (DC) for a match with a 4:00 p.m. kick.
