MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Salem University men's soccer team dominated Seton Hill (Pa.) in a 4-0 shutout victory, on a scorching Tuesday afternoon at Mylan Park.
Salem controlled every aspect of the match, as they held Seton Hill to just two shots in the first half, while the Tigers accumulated 10 shots.
There were no cards handed out and just 17 total fouls called in a fairly clean match.
The Tigers scored first as sophomore
Federico Toschi finessed a shot around the keeper to find the back of the net off an assist from classmate
Mark Ferenczi-Bako to take a 1-0 lead.
Just seven minutes later, senior
Sjoerd Schobbers netted a goal from 25 yards out to extend the Tigers' lead to 2-0.
Not much action occurred in the second half, until sophomore
Chase Myrie found open space on a fast break at 80:39, as he was one on one with the goalie and put the ball in the goal for a commanding 3-0 lead.
Three minutes later, Toschi was not finished, as he netted his ninth goal of the season in the top right corner off an assist from sophomore
Nikklas Roessler to seal the deal with a 4-0 advantage.
Freshman
Bernardo Santos notched his first career shutout as a Tiger, to go along with two saves.
The Tigers are back in action Friday, as they travel to Pikeville for a 2:00 p.m. kick.
