Women's Basketball Edged by Kentucky State

WILBERFORCE, Ohio- The Salem University women's basketball team fell short against Kentucky State 82-79, Sunday afternoon.
 
The loss moves the Tigers to 0-2 this season.
  
The Thorobreds were led by Brooke Wallace and Jessie Kee who had a combined effort of 30 points.
  
The Tigers were led by freshman Tamia Tart who had a team-high 15 points. Tart was 3-4 from outside the arc and 2-3 from the free throw line.
  
Junior Alicia Smith and sophomore Taelor Carter also contributed to the team with 14 points each and four three-point field goals each.
  
As a team, the Tigers shot 33 percent from the floor and finished 56 percent from the free throw line.
 
The Tigers largest lead came at 7:57 in the first quarter as they led by seven.
  
Junior Precious Price made two free throws to take the lead 20-18 in the first quarter, but the Thorobreds had just enough time to tie it up before going into the second quarter.
  
In the second quarter, KSU kept the lead the whole way through to finish the half with an 11 point lead.
 
The third quarter was led by the Thorobreds as well, however, Salem kicked back from a18 point deficit to cut the lead to 67-61 after a three-pointer from Smith.
 
The last shot of the game came with only eleven seconds left from Carter for a three, however, it wasn't enough to take a win from the Thorobreds.
 
 
The Tigers are set to play Davis & Elkins Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
