Tigers Down Pitt-Johnstown For Second-Straight Win

SALEM, W.Va.- Behind a 14-4 run, the Salem University women's basketball team pushed past Pitt-Johnstown 86-69, for a two-game win streak, Wednesday night at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
 
With the win, the Tigers move to 2-7 on the season, while Pitt-Johnstown falls to 4-4.
 
Salem outshot the Mountain Cats in three-pointers, 26.5 percent (9-34) to zero percent (0-7). On the other hand, Pitt-Johnstown led the Tigers in free throws 71.4 percent (25-35) to 59.1 percent (13-22).
 
The Tigers scored 25 points off the Mountain Cats' 21 turnovers, while off the bench, Salem scored 33 points to Pitt-Johnstown's two.
 
The Tigers were led by freshman Nia Bishop with 20 points in her debut game as a Tiger, while junior Endia Jones added 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
 
Freshman Daniela Quesada-Villalobos and junior Aaliyah Holmes both tacked-on ten points each as they made a combined four three-pointers, two each.
 
After a seven-point deficit in the third quarter, the Tigers fought back to take the lead going into the fourth quarter, 57-54.
 
The fourth quarter came with an explosion as the Tigers took a 14 point lead after a three by freshman Tamia Tart assisted by junior Precious Price.
 
Seven of the nine three-point field goals came in the fourth quarter for the Tigers.
 
Pitt-Johnstown's Maddie Shanahan netted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Gabrielle Smith had a game-high 25 points.
 
The Tigers are set to compete against Seton Hill (Pa.) at home Tuesday set for 6:00 p.m.
