ELKINS, W.Va. – The Salem University men's soccer team dropped its season opener on the road to No. 25 Davis & Elkins 3-1, Thursday night.
The Tigers outshot the Senators in the first half 8-4 and earned more corners 4-2, while the Senators led the Tigers in shots on goal 3-2.
For the game, the Tigers led the Senators in shots (15-7), corners (7-2), and committed fewer fouls (14-12) and offsides (3-1).

Mark Ferenczi-Bako led the way for Salem with one goal scored and six shots with two on goal. Sophomore

Nikklas Roessler each generated one shot on goal.
In the first half, Davis & Elkins scored three goals with goals at 8:33, 25:00 and 37:33.
At the 57:42 mark in the second half, Ferenczi-Bako put the ball past Senator goalkeeper Everton Carvalho and netted the Tigers lone goal of the night.
Carvalho allowed one goal and notched three saves.
The Tigers are back on the pitch Saturday as they travel to and take on Lincoln Memorial at 3:30 pm.
