CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A golden goal from junior
Tamara Queiroz lifted the Salem University women's soccer team over West Liberty 3-2 in overtime, Wednesday night at Robert C. Byrd High School.
In the first half, the Hilltoppers outshot the Tigers 8-5, as West Liberty had three shots on goal, while Salem had one.
For the match, Salem led West Liberty with shots on goal 6-5, while the Tigers led the Hilltoppers in corners 4-1.
Early in the match at 6:26, West Liberty's Layne Hartnell found a way past junior goalkeeper
Valentina Bonaiuto to take a 1-0 lead over Salem.
Bonaiuto finished the match with three saves.
West Liberty held a 1-0 advantage over Salem heading into intermission.

Aliyah Armijo notched her first career collegiate goal as she received a through ball from Queiroz to knot the contest at 1-1.
Just one minute later, sophomore
Kiara Pennycooke found the back of the net off a mishandled ball from West Liberty's goalkeeper to take a 2-1 lead.
West Liberty tied the match 2-2 as Kaylee Hillard scored her only goal of the match.
With nine seconds remaining in regulation, Salem scored a goal but was called for an offsides penalty to force the game into extra time.
Just four minutes into extra time, Queiroz scored the game-winning goal as she volleyed a deflected ball into the back of the net for the 3-2 win.
Salem is back in action Saturday as it travels to Concord for a match at 1:00 p.m.
