CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A hat trick from sophomore
Federico Toschi helped surge the Salem University men's soccer team past Marian (Ind.) 4-1, Saturday afternoon at Robert C. Byrd High School.
With the win, Salem improves to 3-1, while Marian falls to 2-2.
The Tigers outshot Marian 15-7, while Marian earned more corner kicks 5-4.
Salem was led by Toschi who generated four shots and produced three goals.
The first goal of the game came at 13:59 as sophomore
Chase Myrie found a cutting Toschi who found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
At 25:26 Marian's Jeffrey Rhodes found a way past the Tiger's keeper sophomore
Wiktor Stawski to tie the game 1-1.
Toschi's second goal of the game came at 55:30 as senior
Sjoerd Schobbers found Toschi with a beautiful cross from the right. Toschi earned his hat trick at 80:14 as sophomore
Ameen El-Shami hit a cutting Toschi with a through ball to give the Tigers a 3-1 advantage.
At 88:05, Till Tripper ripped a free kick from 25 yards out past the goalkeeper to give Salem a comfortable 4-1 lead.
The Tigers are back in action Tuesday as they travel to Shippensburg for a 3:30 p.m. kick.
