SALEM, W.Va.- The Salem University men and women's swimming teams hosted Frostburg State and Bethany College for senior day, Saturday afternoon honoring senior
Mateo Kozomara.
On the women's side, freshman
Chloe Smart led the team with three first-place finishes. She finished the 200-yard freestyle in 2:09.87, while finishing at 26.85 in the 50-yard freestyle. In the 100-yard butterfly Smart clocked in with the quickest time of 1:08.11.

Lauren Platz also had a day with two first-place finishes. She finished first in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.13) and 500-yard freestyle (5:50.36).

Katherine Turner marked her day with two second-place finishes in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 1:18.22 and 2:51.03, respectively.
In the 500-yard and 1000-yard freestyle, freshman
Annefleur ten Bloemendal placed second in both events clocking in at 5:57.62 and 12:26.23, respectively.
As for the men, freshman
Brady Samuels continues to shine as he finished three events in first place. Samuels placed first in the 200-yard butterfly clocking in at 2:01.44, while marking a time of 51.10 in the 100-yard freestyle. In the 100-yard butterfly, Samuels also placed first with a time of 55.84.

Austin Kephart were also able to grab a few first-place wins for the day. Smith finished in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.38 and in the 200-yard IM at 2:05.24. Kephart won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.70 and notched second place in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:11.63.
Sophomore Steve de Neergaard placed first place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:31.04 and second place in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:09.01.
Smith, Kephart, Samuels, and Kozomara teamed up to place first in the 200-yard medley relay with a total time of 1:42.37 (28.53, 26.75, 23.77, 23.32).
The Tigers head to Charlotte, N.C. on February 6 to compete in the Bluegrass Mountain Conference tournament.
