Dean William Davies scored a pair of goals three minutes apart to draw Salem University even in the match, but Ohio Dominican went ahead to stay in the 77th minute as the Tigers fell to the Panthers 5-3 in NCAA Division II men's soccer Thursday at Columbus, Ohio.
Mark Ferenczi-Bako also scored for the Tigers.

Salem had to rally from a two-goal deficit in a first half that saw each team score a pair of goals in the final eight minutes. Ferenczi-Bako converted a penalty kick at the 37:46 mark to even the match at 1-1. Ohio Dominican regained the lead just 13 seconds later and then extended its advantage to 3-1 after a penalty kick of its own at 41:41.

Davies answered with a goal with 56 seconds left in the half to pull Salem within 3-2 at intermission. Davies then tied the match 3-3 at the 47:11 mark.

Luis Felipe Ramirez kept the match even in the 61st minute, making a save on a header from point-blank range in front of the right post off a corner kick from the left corner. But Ohio Dominican broke the tie at the 76:59 mark and added an insurance goal on another penalty kick less than six minutes later.

Salem had a pair of corner kick opportunities in the final four minutes, but was denied a shot attempt.

Ohio Dominican took a 1-0 lead at the 5:56 mark on a goal by Khalif Hassan, who also scored the game winner.

Ramirez played the second half and finished with two saves. Wiktor Strawski recorded four saves in the opening 45 minutes.

Salem was outshot 17-16 for the match. The two teams combined for 40 fouls. The combined five goals in the first half and eight goals for the contest are highs in a Tigers match this season.

After playing three matches in the past six days, Salem is off until Wednesday when the Tigers travel to Greensburg, Pa., to take on Seton Hill University. Match time is 4 p.m.
