Mark Ferenczi-Bako's 40-yard goal early in the second half gave Salem University its first lead and the Tiger defense made it stand for a 2-1 victory over Lincoln Memorial University Tuesday at Mylan Park in Morgantown, W.Va.
Andrea Morelli scored late in the first half as the Tigers posted their second straight win.

Salem (4-5-1) trailed 1-0 when
Nicholas Booysen's defensive play prevented Lincoln Memorial from adding to its lead. A Railsplitter attacker was positioned in front of an open net when Booysen deflected a cross into the box. Tiger goalkeeper
Luis Felipe Ramirez covered the loose ball to prevent a Railsplitter shot attempt.

The Tigers evened the match two minutes later when Morelli won a ball at the top of the box and put home a 20-yarder at the 42:38 mark. The two teams went into halftime tied 1-1.

Salem benefited from 10 offside calls against Lincoln Memorial in the first half. The Railsplitters were flagged for 14 offside calls for the match.

The Tigers went on top at the 50:10 mark when Ferenczi-Bako won a ball at just inside center midfield. He took a touch, then launched a floater that over the Lincoln Memorial goalkeeper and into the back of the net, prompting a Tiger celebratory dogpile on top of Ferenczi-Bako.

Ferenczi-Bako narrowly missed recording his second straight two-goal match just five minutes later.
Jordan Lau crossed from the right corner to Ferenczi-Bako in front of the goal, but his one-touch shot was deflected off the right post.

Lincoln Memorial (3-4-3) had three of its nine shots in the final 11 minutes, but the Tigers were able to keep the Railsplitters out of the goal.

Salem fell behind 1-0 at 24:21 when a Tiger foul in the box led to a Lincoln Memorial penalty kick. Ueslei Silva converted the pk to break the deadlock.

The Tigers matched the Railsplitters with nine shots, including five on goal. Tuesday's match was moved to Morgantown due to field conditions at Catalano Stadium caused by heavy rain throughout the day Monday.

Salem returns to action Saturday as the Tigers travel to Frostburg, Md., to take on Frostburg State University. Match time is 3 p.m.
