Salem University plays host to a Thanksgiving Eve men's and women's basketball doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium. The Tiger women's basketball team takes on nationally 15th-ranked Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 3 p.m., followed by Tiger men's basketball against Ohio Valley University at 5 p.m. Admission to both games is free.

Salem hopes to snap a four-game losing skid after opening the season with a 118-70 victory over Miami-Hamilton (Ohio). The Tigers have surpassed the 100-point mark twice already in five games after going more than 20 years without reaching triple digits.

Two of Salem's losses have been by a single possession. The Tigers fell to Tiffin 82-80 on a basket with three seconds left. Salem led Slippery Rock 103-102 with just over a minute remaining before falling 108-105. The Tigers hit 18 three-pointers in the contest.

Nia Bishop leads four Tigers in double figures with 20.4 points per game this season. Bishop, who is also averaging 3.4 steals per contest, has scored at least 17 points in each game.
Daniela Quesada (11.0 ppg),
Alicia Smith (10.6) and
Nerea Arambarri Fernandez (10.2) are also averaging in double figures.

Indiana opened PSAC play over the weekend with double-digit wins at home against Bloomsburg University and East Stroudsburg University. The Crimson Hawks' lone loss this season was against then-No. 22 Glenville State College.

Wednesday's contest is the sixth meeting all-time between the two teams and the first since the 2008-09 season.

After Wednesday's contest, Salem will be idle until December 4 when the Tigers travel to University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.

Men's Basketball: Salem (2-3) vs. Ohio Valley (2-2)
Salem snapped a three-game losing skid Saturday with a 93-86 victory at home against Point Park University. The Tigers rallied from an early eight-point deficit and then saw an 18-point second-half lead sliced to two before sealing the win in the final minute.

The Tigers opened the season with a 104-84 victory at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Salem has scored at least 90 points in each of its two wins this season.

Jordan Forbes leads four Tigers in double figures with exactly 20.0 points per game. Forbes erupted for 35 points against California University of Pennsylvania.
Shawn Christian and
Marko Tutunovic are both averaging 13.0 points per contest, while
Fonz Hale has a 10.6 scoring average.
Malique Ross is averaging 3.4 assists per game.

Ohio Valley has rebounded from an 0-2 start with wins over the weekend against University of Rio Grande and Ohio Christian University at the Rio Grande Classic.

Wednesday's contest is the first meeting between the two teams since splitting a pair of games during the 2016-17 season, each team winning at home. The Tigers won the last meeting 92-56 February 22, 2017.
