After taking nearly two weeks off for Christmas Break, Salem University is back in action this afternoon as the Tigers travel to Clarion, Pa., to take on Clarion University in NCAA Division II men's basketball. Tip-off is 2 p.m.

Salem (5-6) is playing for the first time since December 19 when the Tigers posted a 103-92 road victory at Glenville State College.
Shawn Christian and
Jordan Forbes combined for all of the points during a game-breaking 18-0 run in the second half after Glenville State cut the Tigers' lead to one. Glenville State entered the contest ranked second in the nation in scoring offense averaging more than 100 points per contest, but it was Salem that topped the century mark for the second time this season.

Forbes, who ranks 22nd in the nation in scoring with 22.6 points per game, topped the 30-point mark for the fourth time this season with 33 points. Christian hit three of his eight 3-pointers during the Tigers' scoring run and finished with 24 points.

Clarion (2-8) is playing for the first time since splitting a pair of games December 20-21, defeating Lock Haven University 69-65 and falling to Mansfield University 79-73.

Salem defeated Clarion 93-64 this past February at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium in the first meeting between the two teams in 10 years.
Fonz Hale and
Malique Ross led five Tigers in double figures with 17 points apiece.

The Tigers have two more road contests this week, then play host to Central State University next Tuesday in Salem's first home game since December 1.
