Softball Falls Twice

ATHENS, W.Va. – The Salem University softball team dropped two games against Concord 9-0 and 12-0, Wednesday afternoon.
 
With the losses, the Tigers drop to 0-4 on the season, while Concord improves to 3-4.
 
In game one of the double header, the Tigers struggled to put runs on the board recording only one hit and three walks.
 
Junior pitcher Christine Bombardiere started the first inning with three up and three down. The first run of the game came in the second inning for Concord as Abby Beatty hit an RBI double to right field for 1-0 lead.
 
The only hit of the game for Salem came from freshman Kimberly Reckling in the top of the third inning with a single to right field.
 
Reckling finished the game 1-1 at the plate with a single and a walk.
 
In the second game of the day, the Mountain Lions came out hot throwing eleven of their twelve runs on the board in the first two innings.
 
The Tigers got their first hit in the top of the third from junior Breanna Jimenez with a single to center field. Reckling singled to right field as Jimenez advanced to third. Salem was unable to drive in a run finishing the inning with two players left on base (11-0).
 
Salem's only other hit of the game came from senior Kaleigh Decker in the top of the fifth with a single to left field.
 
Salem finished the game with three hits and one walk.
 
The Tigers travel to Glenville State, Friday for a double-header at 2:00 p.m.
