NUTTER FORT, W.Va. - The Salem University baseball team rolled past Wheeling Jesuit 8-2, on a sunny but cold Thursday afternoon.
With the win, Salem improves to 6-7, while Wheeling falls to 0-3.
This is the Tigers seventh game of their eleven-game home stand.
Junior
Sam Chapman earned the win on the hill, as he allowed zero runs and just three hits with a season-high eight strikeouts in six innings pitched.
In the first inning, Chapman sat down three of the four batters allowing just one single. In the bottom of the first inning, the Tigers bats were hot as senior

Harrison Hollis for a 1-0 lead.
In the next at-bat, Cramer stole second and then sophomore
Austin Whetzel singled to right field as Cramer crossed the plate for a 2-0 advantage. Two batters later, senior
Thirus Jones notched a single as Whetzel turned on the jets from second to score and give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the second inning, Hollis launched a ball over the left field wall for a solo home run and a 4-0 advantage. In the bottom of the third junior
Walker Dodero hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Whetzel for his second run of the afternoon and a 5-0 lead over Jesuit.
In the bottom half of the fourth, junior
Dalton Robison crossed home plate after a Hollis sacrifice fly to center field and Cramer garnered a triple to score freshman
Michael Rosario for a 7-0 advantage.
Cramer, Whetzel, Jones, Robison and Hollis each recorded two hits in the game, while Hollis posted three RBI.
The Tigers are back on the field Saturday as they host Kentucky State for a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
