Tigers Drop Two Games to Jefferson

NUTTER FORT, W.Va. -The Salem University baseball team dropped two games against Jefferson as it fell in game one 10-5 and dropped game two 17-5.
 
At the plate, junior Tyler Ault was 2-4 with two runs scored and one RBI, while sophomore Austin Whetzel notched one hit and one RBI.
 
Jefferson put the first score on the board as Brodhag hit a solo shot to left center for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. 
 
In the bottom of the second inning, Jefferson added three runs to extend its lead over the Tigers to 4-0. 
 
In the top of the fourth, Jefferson added three more runs to gain a comfortable 7-0 lead. 
 
The Tigers came alive in the bottom of the sixth as Ault hit a double down the left field line to score senior Harrison Hollis. Two batters later, Whetzel hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Ault and cut the lead to 8-2. 
 
Later that inning, junior Dalton Robison blasted a two-run shot over the left field wall to cut the lead to 8-4. 
 
In the second game, Jefferson started off hot as it tallied five runs in the top of the first inning.
 
In the bottom of the first, the Tigers added a few runs as Ault reached on an error to score Hollis and cut the lead to 5-1. Later in the inning, Whetzel singled up the middle to score Ault and cut into the lead. Senior Jimmy Cramer advanced home as Jefferson tried to catch Robison stealing second to cut the Jefferson advantage to 5-3. 
 
In the top of the third Jefferson added eight runs on five hits and one error from the Tigers for a 14-3 lead. In the top of the fourth Jefferson added two more runs to extend the lead to 16-3. 
 
In the bottom of the seventh sophomore, Remmington Boyce doubled to left center to score Hollis as Jefferson led 17-4. 
 
The Tigers are back in action tomorrow as they host Jefferson in the final game of the series at 12:00 p.m.
