Hollis Hits Walk-Off Double in Game Two

NUTTER FORT, W.Va. – With a walk-off double from senior Harrison Hollis, the Salem University baseball team defeated Grove City 6-5 in game two, as Salem fell in game one 6-3 in extra innings, Saturday afternoon. 
 
With the split, the Tigers stand at 16-13, while Grove City is now 11-7. 
 
Sophomore Ben Mack started the day on the hill and in 6.1 innings he tossed four strikeouts and allowed just three hits and three earned runs, while he only totaled one walk. 
 
Junior Dalton Robison was 2-for-4 from the plate, while senior Jimmy Cramer hit a double with two RBI. 
 
The Tigers put the first score on the board as junior Tyler Ault crossed home off a wild pitch and a 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Cramer hit a ground rule double to center field to score senior Isaiah Arroyo and junior Walker Dodero for a 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the first. 
 
In the top of the sixth, Grove City's Hamilton hit a two-run shot to right field to cut Salem's lead to 3-2. 
 
Grove City added a run in the top of the seventh to tie the game at three. The game went into extra innings and in the top of the ninth, Grove City's Orner hit a solo shot to right center to take a 4-3 lead. It added another run after an error for a 5-3 lead. 
 
In the second game, freshman Mauricio Hernandez started on the mound for the Tigers as he allowed four hits and zero earned runs with one base on base and two strikeouts in six innings pitched. 
 
Junior Jack McNellis entered the game in the top of the seventh inning as he earned one strikeout and allowed zero hits and notched his second win of the season (2-0). 
 
Hollis and senior Thirus Jones each tallied one double as Hollis posted one RBI and Jones notched two. 
 
Grove City added five runs in the top of the first inning on three hits and three errors on the Tigers. 
 
In the bottom of the second, Salem added a run as senior Albert Cartenuto hit a single to right field to bring home Dodero and cut the lead to 5-1. Next at-bat, sophomore Remmington Boyce hit a sacrifice fly to right field and scored Arroyo as the score was within three, 5-2. 
 
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Robison hit his ninth home run of the season as he blasted a solo shot to left center and cut the lead to 5-3. 
 
In the bottom of the seventh, Jones launched a double off the wall in left-center to bring home Robison and sophomore Tyler D'Alessandro to tie the game 5-5. 
 
In the next at-bat, Hollis sent a ball to right field as Jones crossed the plate for the 6-5 win. 
 
The Tigers are back on the field Tuesday as they are set to travel for the first time in 23 games as they head to W.Va. Wesleyan at 6:00 p.m.
