ATHENS, W.Va. –The Salem University baseball team fell short to Concord 14-3, Tuesday afternoon.
The loss drops the Tigers to 21-15, while Concord improves to 15-7.
Concord outhit the Tigers 15-7, while Salem committed five errors and Concord did not commit one.
Sophomore
Carlos Pena received the start and is tabbed with the loss (1-1), as he tossed one strikeout and allowed six hits and four earned runs in two innings.
Junior
Walker Dodero was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a home run, while senior
Jimmy Cramer was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
The Tigers found themselves in a hole in the bottom of the second inning as Concord scored seven runs on six hits with two errors on Salem.
In the bottom of the third Concord added four more runs off three hits and two errors committed by the Tigers for an 11-0 lead.
It was not until the top of the fifth until the Tigers added their first runs of the game as Dodero went yard to center field for a two-run home run to cut the lead to 11-2.
In the top of the ninth, Cramer singled to center field as junior
Noah Suarez crossed the plate, as the Tigers trailed 14-3.
The Tigers look to bounce back as they are back in action tomorrow night to host Fairmont State at Frank Loria Memorial Field set for a 6:00 p.m. start.
