Chelsea Cordice recorded a season-high 21 saves and allowed only one goal over the final 58 minutes, but an early scoring flurry was the difference as Salem University fell to West Virginia Wesleyan College 5-0 in NCAA Division II women's soccer Sunday at Buckhannon, W.Va. The Tigers posted a .500 record for the week after winning in overtime at Lincoln Wednesday.
Salem (1-7) fell behind 3-0 in the first eight minutes before slowing West Virginia Wesleyan's (4-3) attack. The Tiger defense limited the Bobcats to two goals on their next 39 shots.
Cordice leads the nation with 87 saves.
After playing five consecutive away contests, Salem is at home Saturday as the Tigers play host to Felician College. Match time is noon at Catalano Stadium.
