Just eight days after a come-from-behind home win against Central State University – and just two days after a record-setting scoring performance – the Salem University men's basketball team travels to Wilberforce, Ohio, tonight for a rematch against Central State. Tip-off is 7 p.m.

Salem (9-7) has won five of its last six games and is coming off a 142-75 victory over Cheyney University Monday night at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium. The Tigers broke school records set just last season for most points in a half and most points in a game. Salem set the previous records in its 130-84 win over Ohio University-Eastern December 19, 2018.

Monday's 67-point win also broke a 23-year-old school record for highest winning margin. The previous record was 63 points set December 7, 1996, in the Tigers' 114-51 victory over Davis & Elkins College. Current West Virginia University head women's basketball coach Mike Carey was the Tigers' head coach at the time.

Robert Ford got to sit his starters for virtually the entire second half after Salem built a 51-point halftime lead. Freshman
Stan Smith established career highs with 33 points and nine rebounds.

Salem's 79 points in the first half against Cheyney surpassed the Tigers' scoring total for the entire game in their 77-75 win over Central State January 7 at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
Malique Ross converted a tie-breaking three-point play with 1:21 remaining and
Fonz Hale's highlight-reel jumper with 26 seconds left capped a 10-0 run and kept the Tigers ahead to stay.

Central State (7-7) got back on the winning track Saturday with an 89-76 victory over Kentucky State Saturday.

The Tigers are 4-6 on the road this season, but have won three of their last four away contests. The Marauders are 6-2 at home this season.

After tonight's contest, Salem will have a 10-day break before traveling to Bluefield State College January 25. The Tigers' next home game is February 6 against Chowan University.
