After being idle for more than a month, the Salem University men's and women's swimming teams are back in the pool this afternoon as the Tigers play host to Davis & Elkins College in a dual meet at the Salem Pool. Meet time is 1 p.m.

Salem is in action for the first time since competing in the ECAC Championships December 6-8 at East Meadow, N.Y. The Tigers' combined men's and women's scores were the highest out of five non-Division I schools and ninth out of 14 schools overall. Salem finished sixth out of eight men's teams and 10th out of 13 women's teams.

Salem set a school record in the women's 200 yard medley relay at the ECAC Championships.

Erin Zappia posted a time of 1:55.37 to best the previous school record by two full seconds.

On the men's side,
Brady Samuels scored points in seven events, including a pair of top 10 finishes in individual events. Samuels also combined with
Mateusz Jedrzejewski, Fernando Perez and
Zach Bell for a sixth-place finish out of 15 teams in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

In dual meets this season, both Tiger teams are 2-0 at their home pool. Salem men's team is 3-1 overall, while the Tiger women's team is 2-2.

Davis & Elkins men improved to 4-1 after defeating West Virginia Wesleyan College last Saturday. The Senators women's team dropped to 5-1 after falling to West Virginia Wesleyan last Saturday.

Salem travels to Bethany, W.Va., next Friday for a tri-meet against Bethany College and Frostburg State University, then plays host to West Virginia Wesleyan next Saturday.
