Salem (6-6) used a 22-0 first-half run to take the lead for good and withstood a late rally to defeat Clarion University 87-75 on New Year's Eve.
Jordan Forbes scored 22 of his 25 points in the second half and pulled down 13 rebounds for his fourth consecutive double-double.

Fonz Hale hit key three-pointers in the final 75 seconds to seal the win.

Urbana (3-8) is playing for the first time since December 20 when the Blue Knights fell to Tiffin 76-71.

The two teams split a pair of close games last season, each winning on its home court. The Tigers won the first meeting 78-72 and dropped the second contest 88-83.

Salem returns to Ohio Sunday to face Notre Dame College, then plays its first home game in more than a month Tuesday as the Tigers play host to Central State University.
