After more than a week after its season opener, Salem University is back on the floor this evening as the Tigers travel to Lincoln, Pa., to take on Lincoln University in NCAA Division II men's basketball. Tip-off is 6 p.m.

Salem (1-0) opened its 2020-21 season with a 96-77 victory November 8 at West Virginia Tech. The Tigers scored on each of their first four possessions and led from start to finish. A 19-point halftime lead fell to single digits midway through the second half before an 11-0 run helped Salem put the game away.

Shawn Christian, who ranked fifth in the nation last year in three-point field goals per game, went 8-for-12 from beyond the arc for 28 points. His eight 3's matched a career high and he came within a single point of matching his career best scoring total.

Jordan Forbes came within one rebound of recording his first triple-double. Forbes scored 23 points on 9-for-10 shooting and dished out a career-high 13 assists to go with nine rebounds.
Fonz Hale added 17 points for the Tigers.

Sunday's win was Salem's 12th in its last 13 games going back to the final two months of the 2019-20 season. The Tigers have won their last eight road contests.

Lincoln is playing its season opener. The Lions posted a 9-20 record last season, but were 6-7 on their home court.

Salem leads the series 3-2 with the home team winning every game. The Tigers won the last meeting 66-65 December 10, 2017 at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium. The two teams will face each other again December 12 at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.

Salem is scheduled to travel to Hillsdale, Mich., Saturday afternoon to take on Hillsdale College, but the status of that contest is uncertain as additional COVID-19 restrictions are scheduled to take effect this week in the state of Michigan.
