Salem, WV – Salem University men's basketball extended to 8-4 on the season with a 97-74 victory at Davis & Elkins College on Wednesday.

Fonz Hale led the Tigers with 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Tobias Howard Jr. also had a big performance for the Tigers with 22 points, eight assists and two rebounds. The Tigers shot 65 percent from the line and 57 percent from the field.

The Tigers struck first with back-to-back layups from Howard and Hale. The Tigers began to pull away from the Senators at the eight-minute mark after a three from Howard sparked a 10-0 run to extend 34-18. The Senators closed out the first half with back-to-back buckets to pull within 11 of the Tigers.

A three from D&E in the first minute of the second half pulled within 11 of the Tigers, but the Senators could not overcome the deficit. The Tigers reached their largest lead of the night at 30 with three minutes left after Kapone Barley found Hale behind the arc.
