Clarion, PA- The Salem University Men's Basketball team got off to a hot start early in their 99-73 win at Clarion University on Friday. The Tigers
Barron Tanner knocked down five of Salem's twenty 3-pointers. Salem shot an impressive 66.7% from beyond the arc.
How It Happened:
- The Tigers got off to an early start in the first half shooting 19-27 from the field and 11-15 from beyond the arch. After a go-ahead 3 from Fonz Hale, the Tigers went on a 14-point run to move the Tigers lead to 23-8.
- The Tigers maintained their lead by no less than 10, going into the half 51-33 against the Golden Eagles.
- An early jumper out of the half from Jordan Forbes put the Tigers lead to 20. The Tigers got its biggest lead of the game at 30 after Hale took it all the way down the floor for a layup. The Tigers final basket of the game came from Aundre Bills with a three.
Stat Highlights:
- Salem scored a season high of 99 points with their previous best being 96 against WV Tech in the first game of the season.
- Four Tigers scored in double digits with Barron Tanner leading the way with 21 points and five rebounds. Hale contributed 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The Tigers will have a rematch with Clarion tomorrow at 3 PM.
