Box Score Bluefield, WV- Salem University Men's Basketball returned to action against Bluefield State College on Saturday. The Tigers are coming off an upset win against nationally ranked Gannon University on Wednesday.
How it happened:
FIRST HALF:
- Both teams went back and forth to start the game, with the score standing at 10-9 with 12:25 to play in the first half. The Tigers held a one point advantage, with
Jordan Forbes scoring 5 of their first 10 points.Â
-Bluefield took their first lead of the half 16-15 after draining a three pointer at the 9:23 mark.
Barron Tanner made a fast break lay up on a steal to put the Tigers back up quickly 17-16.
-Bluefield would rally with the next six points to take a 23-17 lead with 5:50 left in the first.Â
-Salem continued to battle and pulled within 3 (25-28) at the 3:50 mark.
-The Tigers would fall behind 29-39 before
Jordan Forbes closed the gap with a corner 3 with 1:18 left in the half.Â
-The Tigers would go into the half down by 9 (44-35).Â
SECOND HALF:
- The Tigers would find themselves down by 10 at the 15:15 mark of the second half, but an Aleska Dobrijevic three pointer would cut the the Bluefield lead to 7. The next two possessions for Salem would cut the lead to four.Â
-Two free throws put Salem within two at the 8:30 mark.
-At the 7:49 mark, Forbes took it to the hoop on a drive that cut the Bluefield lead to 1.Â
-Salem took their first lead of the half, and since the 9:23 mark of the first half with just under seven minutes to go.
-A back and forth game at this point would have Bluefield up 71-70 with 3:22 left.

Fonz Hale three-pointer would put Salem up 73-71 with just under three minutes to playÂ
-Two Bluefield free throws cut Salems lead to 1 with with 1:00 on the clock.
-Bluefield hit a three pointer with :16 left to tie the game at 79. Salem could not connect on their last possession and the game would go to overtimeÂ
OVERTIME:
-Bluefield would go on a 10-0 run to start overtime

Jordan Forbes hit a three with 1:45 left to give Salem their first points of overtimeÂ
-Salem was outscored 16-3 in overtime.
Salem will be back in action tomorrow again against Bluefield State at 2 PM.Â
