Salem, WV- Salem University softball sweep Kentucky State University in a double header gameday 5-0 and 11-7 on Tuesday to extend their win streak to four. The Tigers had a season high of 13 hits during game two.
Game One:
A big fourth inning for the Tigers brought in five to come away with the victory in game one. Breanna Jimenez led off the inning with a double to right field. Emily Gonzalez drove one through the right side to bring in three to go ahead 3-0. Later in the inning, Kimberly Reckling doubled to right field to bring in another run to extend the lead 4-0. The final run of the game came from Reckling who scored on a passed ball.
Game Two:
The Tigers had a slow start in game two falling 4-0 to the Thorobreds. The Tigers got within one in the second putting three on the board after a big triple from Ashlee Hedrick to right center. The Tigers got the lead 8-6 in the fourth after a double to left field by Christine Bombardiere. Â Despite not getting on the board in the first, the Tigers managed to put up runs in every inning after that to come away with the 11-7 win.
The Tigers look to continue their win streak in a double header contest at home on Friday, March 26th against Carlow University.
