Salem, WV- Salem University softball sweep Kentucky State University in a double header gameday 5-0 and 11-7 on Tuesday to extend their win streak to four. The Tigers had a season high of 13 hits during game two.
Game One:
A big fourth inning for the Tigers brought in five to come away with the victory in game one. Breanna Jimenez led off the inning with a double to right field. Emily Gonzalez drove one through the right side to bring in three to go ahead 3-0. Later in the inning, Kimberly Reckling doubled to right field to bring in another run to extend the lead 4-0. The final run of the game came from Reckling who scored on a passed ball.
Game Two:
The Tigers had a slow start in game two falling 4-0 to the Thorobreds. The Tigers got within one in the second putting three on the board after a big triple from Ashlee Hedrick to right center. The Tigers got the lead 8-6 in the fourth after a double to left field by Christine Bombardiere. Despite not getting on the board in the first, the Tigers managed to put up runs in every inning after that to come away with the 11-7 win.
The Tigers look to continue their win streak in a double header contest at home on Friday, March 26th against Carlow University.
