Baseball Sweeps Concord, Falls to Mercyhurst in Weekend Homestand

Nutter Fort, WV- Salem University baseball finished up the weekend going 2-2. The Tigers came away with the win in their first two games against Concord University 6-4 and 5-4. They dropped their last two against Mercyhurst University 4-3 and 18-4.  

Game One:  
  • The Tigers stole the lead from the Mountain Lions in the eighth after a double from Austin Earls brought in two in their 6-4 victory.  
  • Austin Whetzel led the Tigers with a home run and a double in three at bats.  
Game Two:  
  • Seven Tiger players collected hits in their 5-4 victory over the Mountain Lions.  
  • Dominic Curole went six innings only giving up three runs, three hits and struck on seven.  
Game Three:  
  • Despite a two-run homerun in the seventh by Austin Earls to bring the Tigers within one, the Tiger rally fell short in their 4-3 loss against Mercyhurst University.  
  • Dalton Robison, Ryan Martinez, Josh Medina and Earls each collected one hit.  
Game Four:  
  • The Tigers fell behind early after two home run and were not able to come back in their 18-4 loss against Mercyhurst. 
  • Connor Kelly got the scoring started for the Tigers in the third with a three-run left field home run. The Tigers added one late in the seventh after a sacrifice fly from Zachery Teem.
