Emory, VA – Salem University women's basketball took down Emory & Henry College 77-68 on the road on Saturday.
Two Tigers secured a double-double in the victory over E&H: Nerea Arambarri Fernandez with 27 points and 11 rebounds and Liliani Krause with 12 points and ten rebounds.
The Tigers took the four-point lead after a three from Fernandez early in the first quarter. The Wasps closed out the quarter with an 8-0 run to go ahead 21-15. The Tigers opened up the second with an eight-point run of their own to take back the lead by two. The remainder of the second quarter saw multiple lead changes with the Wasps going into the half ahead by three.
The Tigers tied it up eight minutes into the third quarter. Fernandez scored three with 16 seconds left to take the Tigers into the final quarter ahead 56-52. After the Wasps opened up the fourth with a basket, the Tigers scored eight consecutive points to build the lead to 10. The Tigers had the largest lead of the night at 14 after a fastbreak layup from Krause with four minutes remaining.
