BEAVER FALLS, Pennsylvania - Coming off their defensive struggle of a draw against Roberts Wesleyan, Salem hit the road today on just one day of rest to face off with Penn State - Beaver for a late afternoon rare Monday clash. Salem found their offensive attack to be effective early, and cruised to an impressive 4-0 victory.Â
Right off the bat, Salem benefited from an early Penn State-Beaver miscue that created an own goal to bring the score to 1-0. From there, Salem took control of the game when Luka Majstrovic found the back of the net just before the half. He was assisted on that play by Aidan Mahoney and Diego Losada. The 2-0 scoreline would hold into the intermission.Â
After the break, Salem continued their offensive attack as they added another goal off the foot of Luka Majstrovic to bring the score up to 3-0. Guilherme Benites assisted on that play. Lastly, Jonathan Van Dierman added the final Tigers goal in the closing minutes from an Andrea Fincato assist to bring the game to 4-0. From there, Salem would roll to the easy 4-0 win.Â
On the stats sheet, the clear star of the show was Luka Majstrovic who came back to add to goals for the Tigers. Jonathan Van Dierman and a Penn State-Beaver own goal would provide the other 2 Tigers goals. In goal, Salem instituted a platoon system as Ruben Pijlman and Ryan Schnieder logged 2 saves between themselves.Â
Salem will be back in action on the road again in their next contest as they will head down to Emory & Henry College on October 30th at 4 pm.
