Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Kaden Shoaf

Salem Earns Draw in Tough Matchup with Shaw

RALEIGH, North Carolina - After a tough loss against Shaw in their last outing in Beckley, Salem men's soccer matched up with the Bears for a mid-afternoon contest. The game was tightly contested the whole way, and would end in a 0-0 draw.

In the first half, Salem would find some scoring chances early, but the Bears defense was ready for the pressure. Shaw deflected each Salem scoring chance as the game bogged down into a defensive gridlock. That 0-0 scoreline would hold into the halftime intermission.

After the break, the pressure was on as both teams tried to kick off their offensive attacks into high gear to break the tie. Neither team would be successful in that venture as no one could seem to find the back of the net. Both teams' defensive efforts were high, and the final 45 minutes failed to see any scoring as the game ended in the 0-0 draw.

On the stats sheet, Salem had a few good areas. For starters, the Salem offensive attack was led by Leonardo Davila and Alberto Schiavon, who created multiple scoring chances for the Tigers. In goal, Ryan Schnieder had an effective day in net with 3 saves.

While Salem would have preferred to come out with the win today, they will be able to get back on track on November 5th as they head up to Buffalo, New York to take on D'Youville College for a 1 PM kickoff.
