Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Kaden Shoaf

Salem Drops Road Contest at Shaw

RALEIGH, North Carolina - After battling to a tough draw in their first contest with the Bears in Beckley, the Salem women's soccer team had a chance to get the better of Shaw again as they headed down to Durham County Stadium for a mid-week afternoon kickoff. Salem struggled to keep pace with the Bears, and fell by a score of 4-0.

In the first half, Salem had their work cut out for them early as they conceded three goals to the Bears in the opening period of the game. After that initial jolt, Salem was able to tighten up their defensive gameplan, and were able to hold off the Shaw attack into the break with a scoreline of 3-0.

After the break, the Salem backline was much improved as they kept the Bears at bay for the majority of the second half. However, one last Shaw shot found its way to the back of the net in the waning minutes of the game to bring the scoreline up to 4-0.

While Salem obviously will not be satisfied with the result, there were some areas of improvement for the Tigers in this game. Ana Caroline Lopes and Ana Luiza Ferrante lead the Salem offensive attack. In goal, the usual platoon system of Chloe Owens and Alexandra Issard yielded 7 saves for the Tigers.

Salem will be looking to get back on track with another double header this weekend as they head up to Buffalo, New York to take on D'Youville College on November 5th at 11 AM.
