Athens, WV – Salem University women's basketball dropped a road game against Concord University 96-71 on Monday.
Nerea Arambarri Fernandez led the scoring with the Tigers with 13 followed by Kalyne Daniels with 12 and Daniela Quesada with ten.
After a trip to the line for Daniels put the Tigers on the board first, the Mountain Lions went on a 12-point run to take the 12-2 lead at the seven-minute mark. A free throw from Aleena Mongerie put the Tigers at ten before the Mountain Lions scored the last three points to go into the second quarter ahead 31-10. Fernandez opened the second quarter with a three to pull within 18 of the Mountain Lions. The Mountain Lions closed out the second with a three to go into the half with the 51-29 advantage.
The Mountain Lions built their lead to 31 with 4 minutes left in the third. The Tigers outscoring the Mountain Lions 9-2 in the final four minutes to cut the lead to 24 going into the final quarter. Daniela Quesada started the fourth half with a midrange jumper to pull within 22. After multiple runs from the Mountain Lions, the Tigers could not pull any closer the remainder of the game.
