Salem, WV – Salem University men's basketball took down Emory & Henry college 100-87 on Saturday.
Rodney Smith led the Tigers with a season high of 31 points followed by Tobias Howard Jr. with 27 and Stan Smith with 20 points and eight rebounds. The Tigers shot 57 percent from the field, including 50 percent from beyond the arc, and 93 percent from the line.
After the Wasps opened with two back-to-back layups, the Tigers answered with a three and midrange jumper from Howard to take the one-point lead. The Tigers began to pull away after going on a 13-point run to go ahead 20-9. The Tigers closed out the half with a buzzer corner three from R. Smith to go into the half with the 53-38 advantage.
The Tigers had their largest lead of the night at 18 after R. Smith found S. Smith at the top of the key for three. The Wasps pulled within seven with seven minutes remaining but could not overcome the Salem deficit.
