Nutter Fort, WV – Salem University baseball honored their seven seniors prior to Sunday's game. These seniors included: Conor Bardue, Frankie Cleary, Dalton Smith, Brett Graham, Easy Goita and Kobie Carpenter.
Game One
Scott Kondroik hit a walk off two run homerun for the Tigers to take game one against Virginia State University 13-11. Kobie Carpenter led the Tigers with four hits followed by Tyler Shinn and Kondroik with three. Dalton Smith earned the win on the mound for the Tigers only giving up one hits in four batters faced.
Going into the bottom of the seventh down 11-9, Goita led off the inning with a double down the left field line and later advanced followed by a walk from Shinn. Carpenter singled to center field to bring in two for the Tigers to tie it up at 11. Kondroik blasted a two-run homerun to secure the 13-11 win for the Tigers.
Game Two
Danny Sullivan threw the complete game for the Tigers, earning the shut-out 11-0 win, giving up six hits and striking out six. The Tigers collected ten hits with Shinn and Brett Ehr leading with two each. The Tigers had a big inning in the second, bringing five across the plate. Trey Hissam homered to left field to bring in two and later in the inning, Shinn over left field to bring in three.
Game Three
Frankie Clearly earned the shut-out win on Senior Day, only giving up two hits and striking out ten. The only runs of the game came in the second inning from the Tigers. Nathan Kuhn drew the walk early in the inning followed by a single through the left side from Goita. Graham doubled to left field to bring in the two runs, to give the Tigers the 2-0 lead and win.
Game Four
Ehr went 3-3 with three RBIs in game four followed by Shinn, Kuhn, and Carpenter with two hits apiece. Shinn started the scoring for the Tigers, hitting a leadoff homerun in the first. The Tigers brought two more across the plate in the second. Graham singled through the left side followed by a double from Ehr to bring in Graham. Shinn followed with a single to left field to bring in Ehr to take the 3-0 lead. VSU pulled within two in the top of the third, but the Tigers answered with three in the bottom. Kondroik led off with a single followed by Alex Harper drawing the walk. Kuhn singling up the middle to bring in one followed by Kuhn coming home on a wild pitch. Ehr singled to right field to extend the Tigers lead 6-1. The Tigers added two in the fifth and one in the sixth to secure the 9-1 win over VSU.
