BRIDGEPORT,, West Virginia - After a tough weekend up in Fairmont, there was no rest for the weary as the Salem Volleyball team got right back to it as they played host to intrastate rival Glenville State. The Tigers played well, and logged some of their most impressive sets of the season. However, they would still fall to the Pioneers in three straight sets.Â
In all three sets, the Tigers battled hard to stay neck in neck with the Pioneers in the early stages. Brianna Sotelo and Makhia Hinton both played well to keep the Tigers in the ball game. However, each and every time the Pioneers would pull away in the later stages to take all three sets and therefore the match. Statistically, Gabriela Chaparro Coss led the team in assists, and Brianna Sotelo led the way in digs from the libero role. The Tigers also got from key contributions from Anna Veryser and Grace Deller.
Despite the loss, the Tigers still have some positives to take into their next matchup, and they will have to do it again on just one day of rest. They are slated to take on the Alderson Broaddus Battlers on Wednesday, August 29th at 7 pm. That contest, like today's contest, will be held at The Bridge Sports Complex in Bridgeport, West Virginia.Â
