BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia - As the rains of central West Virginia made the surface at Catalano Stadium unplayable, the Salem Women's soccer program was able to spend their second consecutive home contest on the grounds of The Bridge Sports Complex as the Davis & Elkins Senators came to town. It was a difficult day on the turf for the Tigers, as they would fall 9-1.Â
The scoring opportunities would be few and far between as the Senator's offensive attack controlled the ball for the majority of the contest. In fact, the lone Tiger scoring play came from the foot of Ana Luiza Ferrante as a Senator foul just outside of the box set her up for a free kick. She made the most of that opportunity and crushed a shot into the top right corner of the net for a goal.Â
Despite the rough day on the scoresheet, Salem did have some bright spots. Chloe Owens and Alexandra Issard would earn 6 saves between the two of them in goal. Additionally, Ana Caroline Lopes and Aniiyah Peeples would both play well.
The Salem women's soccer program will have one more chance to get back on track as they head up to West Liberty for a contest with the Hilltoppers on September 3rd at 3 pm.
