JOHNSTOWN, Pennsylvania - After the Charleston Invitational did not go the Salem way, the Tigers volleyball team had a chance for some revenge this week as they headed up to Pennsylvania to square off with the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Cats. Salem fell to the Mountain Cats earlier in the season, but would fall once again in this matchup three sets to zero. The game played out as follows.Â
The main issue for the Tigers on the night was offensive output. Salem struggled to put points onto the board, and Pitt-Johnstown seemed to put them up in droves. The Mountain Cats jumped out to early leads in each of the three sets, and easily controlled the contest as Salem rallied to keep themselves in the game. That control allowed Pitt-Johnstown to cruise to the 3-0 victory.Â
On the stats sheet, there were still some bright spots for the Tigers. Kiley Roberts played well for the Tigers from the libero role as she logged 7 digs. Makhia Hinton made an impact as well with 4 digs and 3 kills.Â
Despite the disappointing end to the evening, Salem has a chance to get back on track this week at home when the West Liberty Hilltoppers come to town on Friday, September 16th for an evening matchup with the Tigers at 5 pm.
