GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania - After the disappointing draw against Penn State Brandywine last week, the Salem men's soccer program took the chance to get back into the win column as they headed back up to the Keystone State for a matchup with the Seton Hill University Griffins. The Tigers found their scoring opportunities few and far between in the match, and fell by a score of 3-0.Â
In the first half, Seton Hill took control of the match with a goal on a free kick in the 16th minute. Salem would play well, but the Griffins held the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.Â
After the break, Salem pulled out all the stops in order to even the score. They found some of those chances as they logged 12 shots and took 11 corner kicks in the second half. However, 2 goals from the Griffins in the last 20 minutes of the contest would cede them the game by a final score of 3-0.Â
From a statistical angle, Aidan Mahoney and Mauricio Aguilar Renovales led the way for the Tigers as they recorded 5 shots between them. In goal, Ruben Pijlman made 5 saves on 17 shots from the Griffins.Â
In their next contest, the Tigers will take on the King University Tornadoes for a home contest at 6 pm on Wednesday, September 21st. That contest is currently scheduled to take place at Catalano Stadium.
