PHILIPPI, West Virginia -This evening our Salem women's volleyball team ventured out to Alderson Broaddus University for what was quoted by coach Ashley Ziegle as 'their best performance so far'. Salem produced a gripping match against Alderson Broaddus that saw each team in the lead multiple times a set. Despite their efforts, they could not pull a win tonight.Â
The opening set of the match saw the Tigers behind several points, however the team refused to bow down easy. The tigers fought back leading for several minutes of the game – this caused discomfort to the Alderson Broaddus coach who used two of their time outs mid set. The second set provided less energy from the Salem side which resulted in a clear win for AB. However, the Tigers rallied themselves for the third time and produced an absolute nail biter of a set. After going toe-to-toe with AB, the girls lost 26-24. Â
Even though the result shows a loss for the Tigers, it was definitely not a disappointing match for them. Tiyana Brown and Alycia Rivera each came away with 3 blocks and Lilliana McColpin with 2. Â
The Tigers are looking promising after tonight's performance and will be back in action on Saturday playing Ashland University in northeast Ohio at 2 pm.Â
