Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Kaden Shoaf

Salem Outrun by Glenville State

BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia - On a beautiful Sunday afternoon at The Bridge Sports Complex, the Salem Tigers played host to the Glenville State Pioneers for a women's soccer matchup. However, the game did not go as well as the weather was for the Tigers as Glenville State controlled the contest from start to finish towards an eventual 7-0 scoreline.

Early on, Salem played the Pioneers tight with their trademark hard nosed defensive style of play. However, Glenville State took control of the game with the goal in the 23rd minute, and it was all Pioneers from there. The halftime scoreline would read 3-0 on the scoreboard in Bridgeport.

In the second half, Salem continued to struggle with the Pioneers offensive attack. However, they did create a few offensive chances for both Julia Munoz - Delgado and Marina Cher in the second half. Despite some improved play, Glenville State pulled away with the 7-0 victory.

On the score sheet, it was Cher and Munoz-Delgado who led the Tigers offensively with 3 shots between them. Between the goalposts, Sarah Cabrera continued her impressive saves totals this season with another 11 in this contest.

While this is certainly not where the Tigers want to be, they will have another chance to get on the right track when West Virginia State comes to town for a 2 PM contest in Bridgeport on Wednesday, October 4th.
