CHARLESTON, West Virginia - With the fall weather bringing intermittent rains and cool weather to much of the state of West Virginia, the Salem University Tigers women's soccer team headed out into the cool fall afternoon for a road contest down south. The host was the Golden Eagles of the University of Charleston, and the Tigers had their work cut out for them as Charleston came into the contest ranked 14th in the nation. It would be another tough one for the Tigers as they fell 13-0.
In the first half, Salem tried to establish their hard nosed defensive style of play. However, it was the Golden Eagles who took a tight grip on the contest with 8 first half goals. Salem's offensive woes continued, and the Tigers went into the intermission with that 8-0 deficit.
For the second half, it was more of the same as the Golden Eagles controlled the game on all sides. Salem did their best to muster a comeback, but Charleston cruised to the 13-0 victory.
The Tigers will be looking to push past this setback, and will be looking to make some waves in their next match. That matchup will be on another road trip, and this time it will be against Wheeling. The Tigers head up to the northern panhandle of the state on Wednesday, October 18th for a 4 PM kickoff.
