Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Kaden Shoaf

Salem Outpaced At West Virginia Wesleyan

BUCKHANNON, West Virginia - After a hard fought battle that ended in a draw against West Liberty, the Salem men's soccer team headed down the road to take on the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan in Buckhannon. Unfortunately, it would be a tough night for the Tigers offensively, and the Bobcats came away with a 6-0 win.

For the first half, the game was closely contested early on with neither team truly taking control. Salem got some strong defensive play from their backline, but the Bobcats found the back of the net first. Salem kept the pressure up the rest of the half, but West Virginia Wesleyan would add one more goal before the break to make the scoreboard read 2-0.

In the second half, Salem had a tall task in front of them as they looked to push their way back into the game. However, it would be the Bobcats who found more of those scoring chances in the second half. The final scoreline would read 6-0 in favor of the Bobcats.

On the scoresheet, there were still some bright spots for the Tigers despite the loss. Offensively, Salem was led by Mauricio Aguilar Renovales, who mustered 4 shots, and Andrea Fincato who added 2 shots of his own. Defensively, Ryan Schneider added 4 saves between the posts for the Tigers.

While tonight's scoreboard did not favor the Tigers, Salem will be looking to get back on track this week when they play host to the Concord Mountain Lions at The Bridge Sports Complex in Bridgeport, West Virginia at 7 PM.
