Salem Completes Season Sweep of Washington Adventist

BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia - After an offensive explosion hurdled the Tigers over the Shock in their first matchup back in March, Salem matched up with Washington Adventist for the home portion of the season series with the Shock in Bridgeport on Monday. Salem completed the season sweep of the Shock with two impressive wins. Both contests played out as follows:

Salem 3, Washington Adventist 0

In Game 1, the star of the show was Meesha Arroyo in the circle for the Tigers. She pitched a masterful performance for the Tigers, and she allowed just 4 hits for the Shock in a complete game shutout performance for the win. In terms of run support for Arroyo, Salem put up 3 runs. The first came in the first inning on a Ricki Garay sacrifice bunt play that brought in Sierra Chapa. In the 2nd, it would be a Meladie LaRance single that brought in Arroyo for the second run of the game. The final run of the contest sealed the deal for the Tigers in the 5th, and it came off a Jazmyn Moetului that brought in LaRance. That wrapped up a strong 3-0 victory for Salem in Game 1.

Salem 6, Washington Adventist 2

For Game 2, Salem's offense took center stage when they jumped out to a 6-0 lead. The first run came in the 2nd on a Meladie LaRance RBI single. They added two more in the 3rd when a Moetlului reached on a fielder's choice that brought in Sierra Chapa, and a Shock error allowed Victoria Castro to score as well. Kaydee Anderson added another for the Tigers in the 4th on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0. The final two Tigers runs came in the 5th on a Meesha Arroyo groundout that scored Ricki Garay, and a Meladie LaRance sacrifice fly to bring home Alyvia Pittman. While the Shock added two in the 6th, Salem sealed the deal, after a strong outing in the pitcher's circle from starter Andrea Gallegos, with a relief appearance for Meesha Arroyo who pitched a flawless final inning to lock in the 6-2 victory for the Tigers.

Energized by the season sweep of Washington Adventist, Salem should be ready to roll in their next contest, and they will not have to wait very long. They play host to local rival Alderson Broaddus back at The Bridge Sports Complex on April 11th at Noon.
