CALIFORNIA, Pennsylvania – Salem baseball took to the road this morning for a 9 inning match up against California University of Pennsylvania. Salem has a tough history against the school only every winning once in the 2022 season and today the tigers were so close to adding another win against the Vulcans.
Â
The first four innings went by quickly as the score stayed at 0-0,
Frankie Gulko kept the Vulcans at bay for the first 4. Salem was also having a tough time hitting the ball until the 5
th inning when
Aaron Forbes had a sacrificed fly out, bringing home Kevin Thompson.
Kaiden Zacharias then bunted for a single which allowed
Jose Lojo to score, then
Luis Angarita was able to reach home on a fielding error. The tigers hot streak diminished after this inning and transferred over to the Vulcans who came alive in the 8
th and 9
th scoring the three extra runs they needed to bring the score to 3-4 in their favor.
Â
With no time to dwell on this slim loss the tigers will be playing at home tomorrow (April 26
th) against Glenville State College at 2pm. Salem should be in good standing for this game as the last time they matched up against the school the stole the game 12-0.
