FROSTBURG, MD- The Tigers continued their road trip last night as the traveled to take on the Bobcats of Frostburg State University. Salem entered yesterday's match with a record of 3-7 and the Bobcats came in with a record of 7-7.
Set number one on the night opened tight knit with both teams staying neck and neck with one another. Frostburg's home court advantage seemed to give them a push in the early stages as they managed to pull off a 7-0 run to establish an 11-4 lead over the Tigers. From there the Tigers were stuck playing fro behind the rest of the match. They just couldn't get any kind of momentum going. Frostburg would go on to take the first set 25-13.
Onto the second set the Tigers looked to bounce back and even things while the Bobcats were looking to take a commanding 2-0 lead over Salem. The early stages of the second set was back and forth with neither team giving up an inch. With a 12-10 advantage Frostburg got the ball and pushed to expand their lead over Salem. They reeled off a 4-0 run to take their lead to six and get within nine points of winning the set. Salem was able to take away some of that momentum and begin to close the gap, but it was too little too late as they lost the second set 25-19.
The third set was reminiscent of the first. Frostburg jumped out early and never looked back. The Bobcats remained aggressive on offense throughout and the Tigers just had no response. Frostburg eventually claimed set three with a 25-14 victory and won the match (3-0).
The Tigers now sit with a record of 3-7 and are back in action in Wheeling, WV to take on Wheeling University September 29th at 7pm.
