Tigers Lose to Hilltoppers on the Road

WEST LIBERTY, West Virginia- The Salem Tigers women's soccer team headed to the northern part of the state on Sunday morning. The Tigers would have an afternoon contest against the West Liberty Hilltoppers. Salem would look to pull off a huge road win, but the Hilltoppers would end up taking complete control of the game. West Liberty was able to take the win 7-0.

In the first half, both teams started out aggressive on the defensive side of the ball. However, West Liberty was able to strike first as they would score their first goal at the 12-minute mark. The Hilltoppers would score once more at the 21-minute mark to extend their lead to 2-0. Both teams would close out the half struggling to get any offense going. West Liberty held a 2-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, the Tigers were able to hold off the Hilltoppers offense to begin the half. Unfortunately, the Hilltoppers would go on a scoring run during the 60-minute mark period scoring 2 goals. At this point, the Hilltoppers had a 4-0 lead midway through the second half. West Liberty had taken complete control of the game and were able to score 3 more goals to close out the game. The Hilltoppers ended up defeating the Tigers by a final score of 7-0.
