Salem Bested by Fairmont State at Home

BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia- After a two-game road stretch for the Salem Tigers, they returned home for a match up vs the Fairmont State Falcons. The Tigers went head-to-head against the Falcons on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon at The Bridge Sports Complex. Salem was looking to pull off a huge home win, but unfortunately were able to do so. Fairmont State was able to end up taking the game 4-0. 

In the first half, both teams came out struggling on the offensive side of the ball. Fairmont State was able to control the ball but were unable to get any goals early on. Over halfway during the first, the Falcons were able to strike scoring their first goal of the game at the 27-minute mark. Overall, it was a quiet first half with Fairmont State holding the 1-0 lead over Salem at halftime.

In the second half, Salem was looking to keep the game close and try to get on the board. Unfortunately, the Falcons were able to extend their lead by scoring their second goal at the 56-minute mark. Two minutes later, the Falcons would strike again extending their lead to 3-0. Fairmont State had a comfortable lead at this point and was looking to control the ball. The Falcons would get on the board one more time at the 72-minute mark. Fairmont State would close out the game and end up taking the win 4-0.

In the stats sheet, the Tigers were able to take one shot that came from Gabriella Briceno Cajiao. Sarah Cabrera was able to secure 11 saves as well. 

Despite the loss, the Tigers will have a chance to get in the win column in their final home game of the season against Wheeling University on Sunday at 4 PM.
