ATHENS, West Virginia- On Sunday afternoon, the Salem Tigers women's soccer team went down to the southern part of the state for a match up vs the Concord Mountain Lions. The Tigers were looking for their first win of the season, but the Mountain Lions were too much for the Tigers to handle. The Mountain Lions would take complete control of the game and take the victory 11-0.
In the first half, the Concord Mountain Lions would waste no time getting on the board, as they would score 3 goals in the first 6 minutes of action. The Mountain Lions had no trouble keeping the offense consistent as they went onto score 4 more goals between the 12-minute mark and 22-minute mark of play. The Mountain Lions would head into the first half with an impressive 7-0 lead.
In the second half, the Mountain Lions would strike quick with another goal at the 47-minute mark. The Tigers were facing a 0-8 deficit at this point and desperately needed to get the offense going. Unfortunately, the Mountain Lions were able to score 3 more goals to extend their lead to 11-0. Concord ended up taking the game by a final score of 11-0.
Despite the loss, the Salem Tigers will head back home for a Wednesday evening match up vs the University of Charleston at The Bridge Sports Complex.
