Tigers Lose to Golden Eagles at Home

BRIDGEPORT, West Virginia – On Wednesday evening, the Salem Tigers women's soccer returned home to The Bridge Sports Complex as they had a match up against the Charleston Golden Eagles. The Tigers were looking to pull off a big win, but the Golden Eagles were too much to handle as they would end up winning the game 7-0.

In the first half, the Golden Eagles got off to a fast start scoring 2 goals in the first 7 minutes of action. The Golden Eagles would get on the board again at the 32-minute mark to extend their lead to 3-0. The Tigers needed some offense if they wanted any chance to get back in this game. Unfortunately, the Tigers couldn't get on the board in the first half and Charleston went into half with a 3-0 lead.

In the second half, Charleston wasted no time getting on the board again as they scored at the 50-minute mark. The Golden Eagles would score 2 more times in the next 12 minutes to extend their lead to 6-0. The Tigers couldn't get any offense going in the second half of play. Charleston was able to get on the board again at the 83-minute mark. The Golden Eagles were able to control the time of possession and close out the game by winning 7-0 as the final score.

In the stats sheet, Sarah Cabrera was able to secure 16 saves and Nasiha Ali took the lone shot on goal for the Salem Tigers.

The Tigers will be back on the road this Saturday as they have a match up vs Davis & Elkins College at 4:30 PM.
