FROSTBURG, Maryland – In a quick turnaround from Saturday night's game, the Salem Tigers men's basketball team had a Sunday afternoon face off against the Shippensburg Raiders. The Tigers were looking to bounce back after last night's loss to Seton Hill. Salem was able to secure a huge victory by defeating Shippensburg 107-91 on Sunday afternoon to close out the Tipoff at Frostburg State for the Tigers.
In the first half, the game started out evenly with both teams being knotted up at 10 through 5 minutes of play. In the next 5 minutes of play, the Tigers were able to take a 26-18 lead with a couple buckets coming from
Kevin Constant. To close out the first, Salem was able to hold a steady 8–10-point lead over Shippensburg. At the half, the Salem Tigers were ahead by a score of 53-45 over the Shippensburg Raiders.
In the second half, the Tigers were able to extend their lead early led by a couple buckets from
Isaac James. With 15-minutes left of play, the Tigers held a commanding 69-53 lead. Midway through the second, the Tigers would extend their lead to 80-62 with 10 minutes remaining with key buckets coming from
Tyree Davis. Once the Tigers were able to maintain a. comfortable lead they never looked back for the rest of the second half. Salem would end up cruising to a 107-91 win and moving to 1-1 on the season.
In the stats sheet, the Tigers had a well-rounded scoring game with six different players scoring in double digits.
Tyree Davis led the way with an impressive 23 points.
Isaac James had 20 point and 8 boards.
DJ Harrell with 19 points,
Jack Garrison IV added 12 points, and
Jalen Barnes chipped in 11 points. Also, the Tigers were able to shoot 82 percent from the line compared to Shippensburg 68 percent.
Overall, the Tigers had a successful day controlling the game for majority of the way and able to improve their record to 1-1. The Tigers will head home for the week as they prepare for their home opener on November 16
th at 4 PM against Gannon University.
